Property of minor.

Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 02 March 2011 This query is : Resolved
Father purchases a property in the name of the minor. The minor attains majority but it is still not in his name.

Father expired , now what is the status of this minor who has attained majority and still property not in his name.

He may apply for change of Khatha or revenue entries into his name with the concerned revenue office (Gram panchayath, City Municipal Corporation, Taluk office, or Mahanagara palike) and he has to furnish the age proof to show that he attained majority.

This seem to be real legal problem , all told if change is not made in records what happens.
G. ARAVINTHAN (Expert) 02 March 2011
No problem, Minor can apply for the mutation of his name in revenue records. No public authority will object for this.

On attaining majority, that person gets right to sell the property too
