Will Married daughter have equal rights in father self earned property

Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 08 March 2011 This query is : Resolved
Will Married daughter have equal rights on father self earned property?

I am from Madurai, Taminadu hindu family and my father had got some property in his name and I had one sister she got married before 1989 and got 2 kids.

My father has not written any will. however he has transferred some of the property (agricultuare land) into my name. I have got the katha in my name. some of agriculture land is left in his name.

My question is whether my sister has rights on my father self earned property since she has got married before 89.

All the legal heirs (i.e. including your married sister) will get equal share in the property left behind by hour father. In case your father had transferred and registered certain property in your name then that will not be disturbed. The property left behind by your father intestate means those properties which have not been disposed of by him (i.e. either by sale or by transfer to any one. In this case you say certain property had already been transferred to you by your father. You are the owner of such property. So such property will not be available by inheritance by anyone.)

Thanks Ramachandran, If I am understood correctly, The property which already transferred to my name will not be available to anyone.

Other property which is my father's name my sister will have equal share

is there any chance I can change all the remaining property document which is in my father's name to my mothers name.

I confirm para 1 and para 2.
Regarding para 3, you cannot do that without your sister's and your consent. Obviously, your sister won't agree.
