I have one more question to you
Is it still mandatory to register the agreement even if the full amount duty is paid to the State Govt and the consideration is very low ie 1000 pm.

What is the duration (period) for which the sub-letting is being done?

First all check up whether sub letting/license deed provision is there or not in the original lease agreement.
Anyway, If you want to enter into agreement, it will be a license agreement which can be executed on Rs.100/- NJ stamp, signed by both the licensor and licencee. No need of notary. Normally registration is not necessary as it is not immovable property. But it is better to register.

The amount has nothing to do ith the registration of the agreement.
