Change in name

My friend have changed his name `Murali' as Vijaymurali in gazette.But he is not using his new name he is using his old name in all records.Just he applied for pancard in his old name.Is it valid or not?
he is not interested in his new name.what is the way to keep his old name?

If he is not interested why should he change Nothing Wrong in him continuing with Old Name

He may continue using his old name. Better he should reverse the procedure to avoid any future complication.

Once he followed the procedures legally as envisaged for change of name, he is required to follow it unless there is no use of the change in name and it will not be recognised in any matter in the future.
