Hello,
I used to have Idea Postpaid Connection in Pune where I used to reside. I resigned from my previous company in the month of December.
Then, by January 15th I had to make the payment to the Idea postpaid connection which amounted to about Rs. 8,500.
So, I had requested Idea Customer Care that I will make the payment once I receive my full settlement from my previous company as I was not employed at that time.
I had spoken to two customer service associates who both informed me that we will not impose any late charges but however your connection will be blocked until you make the payment.
I took their words and waited until I received my final settlement which I had received on February 15th, so I had tried to make the payment through the Online Idea Portal however I could not make the payment.
So, requested my friend to contact a nearby store in Pune to know more details about how to make payment.
There, I got to know that Rs. 2,000 has been levied inspite of me being promised that such a charge will not be done.
After which I talked to the customer care, now they said that they had never implied that however two associates with the names of Shankar and Gaurav had informed me when I contacted them in January.
Hence, I decided not to pay the bills in February.
Now, they have requested me to appear in front of a Lok Adalat for the non payment of Rs. 13,000.
I will not be able to attend that Lok Adalat as I am working right now in Bangalore.
I am more than willing to pay Rs. 8,500 which was my bill.
Now, I need to know some things.
Will I be arrested or something for this ?
What can be done to amicably settle this issue?

Is it permanent Lok Adalat.
You may show the notice and all communications that you have and inputs to your counsel at Bangalore, where you are currently residing.

There are negligible chances of arrest in the given fats at this stage.
Try to have amicable settlement. You may attend lokadalat.

Lok adalat can settle the issue with your consent only; it cannot enforce any issue. The company can recover the amount only through a decree from the civil court.
