Hi All,
We had applied for an internet payment gateway with HDFC Bank. However, they declined our request saying they do not support our category of business.
However, they have provided the gateway to a competitor with the same business model.
This looks like a clear case of bias.
What action can I take against HDFC Bank?

You may ask reason for not providing such facility or complain to higher ups

You can first put up a complaint to the concerned officer in the bank itself. (The bank employees will provide you the relevant details like the name and address of the person).
If the Bank's grievance officer does not resolve you query to your satisfaction then you may also refer the matter to the banking ombudsman.
But please remember that banks offer certain facilities to their customers based on certain criteria such as the time period since they have a relationship with a particular customer, his operations, credit risk perception, guarantees, etc. Hence you may have been treated on par with your competitor but they may have perceived something differently e.g. credit risk.

Mr. Suhail & Mr. Jadhav seem to be right here.
The issue is not with credit risk here.
They say that they keep changing their guidelines and our competitor got it before the guidelines changed.
My contention is that if guidelines have changed now, then the competitor too does not meet their guidelines. Then why the bias.
I think I can take the help of banking ombudsman here. Any directions on this?

Yes. You may file a complaint before the Banking Ombudsman. But you must have cogent reasons to question the policy change made by the bank.

Bank has the discretion to allow a facility to one and deny the said facility to another. Instead of fighting with the HDFC bank try the facility in some other bank offering the same.
