Dear All,
Are the private general Insurance Companies covered by RTI or that one has to apply to the IRDA to obtain the database of the total loss vehicles for a given Insurance Company.Kindly Advise.

Make an RTI Application u/s 2(f) to IRDA to obtain the said information, who would be mandatorily bound to provide you the information.

But, IRDA has replied with Aditya bandopadhyay's judgement that the public authority need not collect or collate information from the private bodies to furnish it to an applicant. Kindly advise.

Thalappalam Ser Co-Op bank's judgement makes it very clear that the public authority to the extent permissible under the Act he is functioning under is bound to collect information to the extent permissible under RTI and furnish it to an applicant
