Hi all

In our area(Hyderabad,kukatpally) we are having different situation....all shopvalas are not accepting 5 rupee notes..can they deny like that..can we any action on them like complaining to police..pls help me on this

It is a legal tender and no shopkeeper can lawfully refuse to accept it. Immediately unable to find out legal recourse; let us see what other fellow experts say about this.

Even though it is illegal,it is a known fact that at many places coins below one rupee is not accepted.

first time I am hearing regarding 5 rupees note.

I suggest sending an RTI query to the CPIO of finance minister/rbi etc may yield some result.
