hello Friends,
what exactly we mean by ancestral property? whether self aquired property become ancestral property for 3rd generation?

Any property pertaining to parents or grand parents/ close relatives & other ancesters and liable to be inherited by you can be ancestral property. That may or may not be their self acquired property. Only your own self acquired property does not come under the term of ancestral property particularly for you and your brothers & sisters, but can be ancestral property for your children or grand children.

well answered of 1st question by Mr. Dhingra.
For second question... if the person who acquired the property is alive, that property will not be treated as ancestral one for 3rd generation. The person who acquire that property is sole owner of that till his death.
