The registration takes place wherein the marriage had taken place. Any two persons as witness from each side shall be witnesses and the presence of the parties is must.
Kirti Kar Tripathi (Expert) 08 March 2012
yes, registration is takes place, where marriage is solemnized.
Shonee Kapoor (Expert) 08 March 2012
The marriage can be resgistered anywhere, if the parties are staying at a place for more than One Year, if the marriage happened long back.

However, it is desirable to get marriage registered ASAP in the jurisdiction where it is solemnized.

Marriage can be registered at the place where any of the party (bride/groom) resides and have residential proof.

It was earlier that the marriage had to be registered at the place where it was solemnised.

Witness from both the side are necessary for registration.
