court may direct you to deposit the amount before hearing your appeal on merits

Appellate Court generally direct the appellant to t least make part payment to the respondent/applicant wife for her maintenance otherwise appeal can be even refused to be entertained and this procedure is followed strictly in case of final order passed by the Court below.
