Respected lawyers of this club,
I am in big trouble unintentionally i have been caught in this problem and getting no where out of it.
I did my 10th from CBSE in 2003 which has my mother's name incorrect as Vibha which is her after marriage name but not official) in place of Ramesh Rani. It went all ok till i completed my graduation and other diplomas because it was never asked for mothers name their. Recently i faced a query from the passport office and was mentioned to get it corrected in the 10th certificates. I approached CBSE through proper channel ie. my school but my application has been rejected under 69.(ii) because after 10 years no such request is entertained by the CBSE. I am in big trouble now. can somebody please show me some vision? I am trying for government job and this kind of problem can ruin my career forever. I know its a blunder on my part but is it that big that i have to suffer for it for the whole my life? or should i die because i will be of no where then.
please someone help. where shall i go and what can be done, also i heard of filing a writ but that is time consuming isn't it and i need this to be solved asap. also i am not financially independent so would not like to take huge amounts for lawyers fees from my parents. please someone help i will be really grateful to you.

Contact the passport office asking whether both names of mother can be used as alias. You must be having proofs of both names.
If not, you may file case for direction to CBSE for changing the name of mother. This would be lengthy and time consuming process.

as per CBSE guidelines any change in school leaving certificate has to be done within period of 2 years . you can move court but recently delhi high court has held that no such changes can be made if application is made after some years

CBSE must have sent you written communication.
You have the proof of both the names of your mother.
Your mother can make an sworn affidavit and the same can be submitted to Pass Port Office.
If you show the proofs of two names and your correspondence with CBSE to the Pass Port Officer, he/she will advice you what to do.
It is not such a big problem that can never be solved.

Respected all i appreciate your taking time out replying however, i still cannot get a clear view of what to do next now, i do not belong to a rich family nor am I financially independent as of now to be able to go for a court case which i suppose would cost a lot. Also its not only about passports further it can interupt with visa if in future situatipn comes..and i am a govt job aspirant it can ruin my chances completely.. I wonder a murderer can plea in this country and HC denies such simple chanhes if we have all proofs and we have to suffer for whole life..Is my crime so big?? I feel like a criminal :(

your problem is for 10 years you did not bother to scrutinize your CBSE school leaving certificate . if you have been grossly negligent and have woken up from your slumber after 10 years why should CBSE in contravention of its rules and regulations help you now .
anyhow try your luck by filing writ petition in Hgh court challenging decision of CBSE in refusing name change application

Better to approach the passport authority with an affidavit explaining the circumstances that led to this change in the name and mention that both the names are one and the same and the purpose of this affidavit is that the education authorities cannot change it at this belated stage.
