In exceptional cases court may require the presence of accused.

It is not necessary that you are required to be present in hearing of a petition for quashing FIR except when specifically directed to be in the court.
SAINATH DEVALLA (Expert) 05 June 2015
The presence of the petitioner is optional while going for a quash in HC.Only the merits of the petition count for quash. But UR lawyer should be wise enough to present the petition in a proper manner.
