Stamp duty

(Querist) 06 September 2011 This query is : Resolved
Sir,
I have purchased an apartment and going to register it in Gaya (Bihar). Now Govt rate is more than the purchased rate and they are also charging registration fee on the undivided share of land. Whether stamp duty is payable on land also after paying for super built up area.

Regards Sanjeet

Yes, you have to pay it.

Yes, you have to pay it. That is the legal way to do. Any other short cut will land you in problem and you will not get clear title to your property.

Experts are right without paying duty and registration fees as demanded you can not get a clear title over property you are buying.

Registration fee and collector rate prevalent at the time of registration is to be paid even though the cost of consideration might be minimal.
