I had applied for Common Admission Test(CAT)2011 for Indian Insstitutes of Management. I belong to lingayat caste n I live in bangalore. I belong to 3B category of backward classes in karnataka, n I also checked the central obc list where I found lingayat to be a part of it. So I applied for CAT through obc category. Results were out on jan 11th, n I've got calls from IIMs for interview based on my marks n category. For attending interview i need to have obc certificate in the official format prescribed by IIMs. So I had been to taluk office to get it sealed, but I was told that I dont belong to the central obc category. I informed them that few sub-castes of lingayat belonged to central obc list. But they had only one answer saying that those sub-castes do not reside in south karnataka.
As everyone knows IIMs are one among the prestigious colleges of the country and one needs enormous amout of effort to make it to those colleges. I've my interviews coming up in a couple of days from now. Can somebody please help me out soon with legal suggestions and solutions that are possible.
Looking forward for advices..
