What is the scope and magnitude of the "free legal advice" given by the respected lawyers here? Being a practicing lawyer myself, I am at a loss to understand as to what my ld.colleagues are trying to achieve by rolling out free legal consultations to people here. I am surprised to see that not only are the lawyers giving free and lengthy legal consultancy to the querists but also providing free documents to people who can well afford a lawyer. On one such query a lawyer has provided a free will to a querist who then got it registered by changing the name at the requisite places. The qualification of the querist mentioned on his profile manifested that he could afford having the services of multiple lawyers. Is such an insanely stupid act not harmful to the legal profession as a whole? This querist could have gone to a lawyer and got the will made by paying his fees. No professional does this. I am yet to come across a single doctor,CA or other professional who gives such free services. At the end of the day we the lawyers will be the only losers if this continues.

No sir ignorance of law cant be excused, atleast for that we can take part as a free service of leg.aid whoever wishes, no one can spoil our profession

Sushil,
We try to avoid Queries of students, Businessman, Corporate sectors, etc who, we feel can easily afford Legal Fees.
We try to help needy, poor, who want help to solve their personal Legal Problem.
Few clients are misguided by money making Advocates, and seek a free opinion, and get it thru many experts , who are in free legal service, and impartial, do not know each other, have no monetary transaction.
It helps needy, poor, and those who cannot afford Costly Legal consultancy.
We do take precautions so that Rich, and capable businessman cannot take disadvantage.
We have to guard against those black-ships, , who abuse and insult us, when we expose their dirty intentions and our advise goes against their wish, cannot be digested by them .
It's part of Life.
CA have their Free Advise Club.
There are many helpline / websites to cure your illness!!
There are over 2 Lakh members who are benefited thru LCI. .
We do it in our spare time, as and when available. We cannot do it daily, nor at the cost of our important work.
It also help sharing knowledge.
U stated "At the end of the day we the lawyers will be the only losers if this continues."
However, I do not agree with your views.
I do agree, to safeguard against those who misuse Free Legal Aid.
It is difficult to know, who are they??
The Querist is 95% Anonymous.
No Address, no real name.
We don't even know we are helping a honest or a cheater!!
And he/she is double crossing, or try to find the defence for his/her action?
However, LCI is well accepted and growing!!
So join, and enjoy this fun!!
Join and help those needy!!
May be one is helped and in genuine need.
God is the best judge, and will take care, if we loose in service of mankind!!!

We are in Profession of Legal service, It is not a business.
A Doctor treat Physical Illness, wound, Physical diseases , by operating in Hospital wearing White Coat.
A Lawyer treat mental misunderstanding, victims of selfish, greedy persons, who suffer , by proceeding in Court wearing Black coat.
Jobs are same.
Sick, & Victims suffer either by illegal act or virus, bacteria,Either by bad thinking of someone, or bad food habit or contact.
Treatment is either Legal or Medical, to cure him to lead healthy, wealthy life.
We being Legal Profession, are duty bound to help gain him healthy life, peaceful Life.
In service, why wait till the victim come from Madurai to my Office at Bombay, if I can help him free by internet thru LCI??
Sushil, is it not a "sushil" idea??
And Trust God, He will certainly pay you for your services, either this way or that way. No effort is ever wasted.

we dont provide ready made drafts .
further we dont entertain commercial queries by companies .
no harm in advsing litigants free of copst . later for fighting case in courts they have to engage a lawyer .
it gives lot of satisfaction in helping the litigants . whatever we are today it is because of this profession .

You are chellenging the backbone of LCI, the existence of this very important Website, So I have to reply you at length.
You are a new comer, Joined LCI today on 2-8-13, and example cited by you of WILL, is unknown to me.
But we usually never provide ready-made format.
On the other side, many web provide it too.
There are many hundred of Legal helping Websites., and many provide ready-made formats.
One get lots of free knowledge through Computer/ internet.
Lakhs of victims of Matrimonial sickness will get guidance to live happy, healthy married Life, even after my inevitable death after few years. The whole world can read , what I suggested . I am Sr citizen, and can proudly say, Those Husbands and wife will read me and get useful guidance, year after year.

Dear Mr. Sushil Kapoor,
I don't know how much valuable your query is taken by members here without your quoting some instances where free advice or readymade documents to the affluent people of society would have been provided by any of the experts.
Your query would have become meaningful, had you come forward with some of such instances where the experts would have helped those who could well have been able to afford the fee of lawyers.
Moreover, money-mindedness should not always be the object of any expert, particularly when someone shows some simple way to the really needy person to come out of his problem. Nobody here is providing free service to anyone to represent his case in the court of law.
Probably, you would also like to agree that majority of people are unaware of implications of law.
You may also like to agree that majority of people get confused even when they face some simple problem and they want to know the legal implication of that problem. Moreover, only such people come forward with request for help when they face the heat of law and they are either not able to pay hefty fee to the advocates for petty matters or they feel that their own lawyers are not providing them service sincerely or in a fair manner or are keeping them in dark. Those persons, who are shrewed and try to misuse the free services more or less can be identified from description of the problem or on referring their profile. Moreover, such persons, who have the intention to misuse the law don't come openly on any free service site and hire services of reputed lawyers privately.
You would also like to agree that everything has two aspects, negative and positive. But, that depends, how a person can take help of the positive aspect of the matter.
WE SHOULD NOT FORGET that if the experts devote some of their time in solving problems free of cost that is a sort of investment on their part. IN FACT, THE MAJOR ADVANTAGE LIES HERE FOR THE EXPERTS, who are able to get free updates by mutually sharing of knowledge with each other, as nobody can boast to be perfect in law. That way they are able to get free knowledge to make them ready to meet with any challenging eventuality when that arises before them in future.
Another advantage to the experts is that the querists are also able to judge which of the experts they can rely, even if they decide to hire their services locally to represent their cases in the courts of law.

I agree with Mr. Dhingra... We try to understand the problem and offer a solution on the basis of knowledge and experience gained by us... We usually judge who are the needy and desrving and who can afford a local Advocate...
