This query is : Resolved
One of my tenants has defaulted in rent payment since 6 months ( jurisdiction : kolkata ). Am I entitled to lodge a GD with the police station of the jurisdiction area informing as to the default of rent payment by the tenant, apart from issuing him legal notice for eviction.

Police has nothing to do in this matter.
Default in paying rent is a ground for eviction for which you may file suit for eviction against him.

If police interferes in such matters, they will have to do this work only forever. You have to take legal measures. Contact a local advocate, serve legal notice and file a suit for eviction if the tenant does not yield.
