How to file case without lawyer as one can't afford

I read in this club itself about charging someone woth DEFAMENT (IPC499,500).
Suppose I got defamed by some police department officer (slap me) and I can't afford a lawyer so how can I file case against that officer without lawyer (as I can't afford)

Slapping by anybody does not attract offence u/s 499 IPC though Sec 323 IPC may be attracted.
For legal aid contact your local District Legal Aid Authority which service you may avail if you fulfill its criteria.

You can also contest your case and in case unable to do so then obtain free advocate and legal charges by moving an application supported with your affidavit to Secretary District Legal Services Authority (generally Chieff Judicial Magistrate) and he shall definitely provide you as desired.

District Legal Aid Authority MAY GIVE YOU PERMISSTION FOR CASE AS FREE LEGAL AID RECIVER DEPEND ON INCOME MAINLY

You can also take assistance of State Legal Service Authority to get free- Legal-Aid.
In my opinion file a private complaint under section 200 of Criminial Proceedure Code directly before the Concerned/Jurisdictional Judge.
