Hi
I was working in Hyderabad but my bank account was in native place.
last yr in may 2013 one of my relative who is not in favor of me gone to bank changed mobile no of bank account with her
I immediately informed Hyderabad branch and they reverted it
even informed local branch not to do it again but still second time they changed it.
when I filed complaint they acted very rowdy ,said they did not changed number but reverted it back, even harassed Hyderabad bank people and blamed on them
Now my good uncle is legal adviser in same branch and they are harassing him,but for that we don't have any proof and he is reluctant to make case open
1) what maximum penalty will be on branch coz they changed my mobile without any document
2) what is best way to save my uncle

Your uncle is legal adviser of the Bank, he must be capable and aware how to reply the harassment from the Branch. A legal adviser has a no. of loopholes to make understand the facts to the Branch people.
You should lodge complaint to head office and other offices of the Bank. Switching to another Bank is also a option.

If they banker had changed your official phone number without your knowledge and request, you can give a complaint in the RBI ombudsman.
The legal officer will take care of his issues.

You are worried about your grievances or about your uncle's?, You have nothing to do with the bankers harassing your uncle, he being a legal adviser, he knows law and also how to tackle the issue, so that is his problem, let him handle it separately. If you show your concern to the harassment meted out to your uncle by the bankers for your reasons, the banker will take advantage, pretend as if you are not at all bothered with that and keep moving forward with your legal action against the bankers. Just interacting with the customer care service will not fetch you any remedy, you must go ahead with the complaint against the bankers with the Banking Ombudsman. Yours is a genuine complaint, better concentrate only your problem, the other subsidiaries will subside on its own when your problem flares up vigorously.

Well Said Mr Kalaiselvan
1) I don't worry about myself but don't wanted uncle to be harassed as he helped in poor times
2) I am reluctant to put court case as only mobile number changed not any financial loss incurred
PS:- interacting with customer care gave me wondrous reason and made case strong
from last one and half year
1) they replied as number never changed
2) once they replied as there was typing mistake and number was corrected

Bank's Code of Committement to customers, Fair Practices Code.......................Secrecy of a/c holder are various matters that can have serous implications of Bank employees.
The reply of the bank is verbal or in writing.
If the phone number is stated in a/c opening form then it is entered (by typing) along with other entries on day 1.
If you do not want to approach court of law you can escalate to AGM, Circle head, Nodal Officer, MD, Chairman and let them take action and award penalty to erring employee.

file a complaint before consumer court against the bank, you uncle is capable to save yourself, he may file a complaint before police if anybody will harass him.

If all what you said is correct then bank officials at local branch have transgressed their powers and allowed a stranger to receive SMS alert on your transactions and violated banking secrecy. They are liable for disciplinary action.
I am giving you contact details of their CVO

If your uncle, himself, is a legal adviser and renders advice with solutions to the legal problems with the bank, I wonder, why he feels handicap in devising a solution for himself and seeking your mediation to ask from the experts on his behalf. Ask him to post his query independently, if he really feels some handicap with proper background for that. Don't try to be a mediator for your uncle.
