indecent representation of women

(Querist) 23 March 2009 This query is : Resolved
Whether an individual can file complaint against the publisher who depicts women in an indecent manner in the book/pamphlet/newspaper. If so, who is the victim? Whether any of the readers/viewer of the publication can lodge the complaint before the Magistrate under the Indecent Representation of Women Act?

Any body who depict women in an indecent manner in the book/pamphlet/newspaper etc.As well as the said women and the readers and viewer of the publication also is the victim, but it depends case to case. Readers and viewer may lodge the complain.

no locus standi is observed.

PIL can be filed.

when the women's will & consent is there, then it is difficult to initiate PIL and locus standi is required in that case.
