Dear Sir I live in mumbai in a pagdi system. I am renovating my house. We have replacing old Windows wood with new sliding windows. We had extended grill 12 inches from the actual windows. We are facing problem from the landlord for the extension. He is threatening to stop my work and asking for money for the extension. What rights do landlord have..can he stop my work or ask for money in regard to this.

Tenant cannot make permanent construction in the tenented premises without prior written permission from the ladlord, however,in your case, since your construction is not of permanent nature, which could be removed without damaging the property, you can do it.
