Legal Notice by Previous Employer

Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 10 September 2010 This query is : Resolved 
Dear Sir/Madam,

I have received a legal notice from my last employer stating -

1. I have joined competitor company.
2. Violated Confidentiality agreement breach.

Due to this legal notice in place my full and final settlement is pending with this employer.

Pls suggest , how to go about it.

I want to know does any laws written anywhere which bound the employee to not leave one company and join another ?

well you are bound by the agreement or contract you signed at the time of joining your Earlier employer...so go through your terms of appointment and be very careful while relpying donont be vague but very specific and precise in your reply...

U cannot violate the terms of employment of your erstwhile employer & if it had certain restrictions on future employment, it is binding unless they are unreasonable or illegal.
