Lost Possession Letter and Lease Papers of DDA Flat in Delhi

(Querist) 24 February 2010 This query is : Resolved
My father was alloted a DDA flat in Delhi. He died several years back and now the property has been transferred by DDA in my name. I wanted to convert is from leasehold to free-hold but the possession letter and lease papers of the flat are not traceable now. What is the process for getting the copies of these documents and then convert the flat to free-hold.

File an application with the local police station stating therein the loss of those documents. Obtain its certified copy and move an application with DDA enclosing the police report and after depositing the required fee, obtain its certified (duplicate) copy therefrom and then use it as original.

Since the papers were not stolen but got misplaced, the police will not take FIR. Perhaps publishing in newspaper may be a better option asking for anyone to file objection. If so, can someone give me a text of advertisement.

Deepak! Daily diary statement/report can also be lodged by police if such documents were misplaced. Its copy shall also suffice.

Advertisement shall be made by the newspaper editors etc. You rbing with them your written material and they shall charge as per words and place of your choice in paper.
