Dear Sir, I am working in a mechanical company as Design Engineer for the last 1 year and 6 months.3 weeks back, our HR manager told me that they are going to shrink the design division as a consequence of recession. So I have to either resign by July 31st or else I will be terminated from the service. But till now I haven't received any notice in Black and White from the company. So what should I do? Is there any rule that the employer should provide notice period to employee? Awaiting the reply at the earliest.

The notice period would have been provided in your own odder/appointment letter. Even if that be not there, minimum one month's motice period is there for the employer as well as the employee to observe in termination or resignation case, as the case may be.

Since the resignation decision was not initiated by me, don't they have to give me a notice letter? If not ,then do I have any right to get any monitory benefit from the company?

If they terminate you, you will have the right to claim one month's salary in lieu of notice period.
