The PAN of the proprietor is relevant since in sole proprietorship there is no difference between him and his business.

If the sole proprietor has a PAN, no need to apply further PAN for the business.

A sole propreitory business is neither legal nor artificial juridical person. It is not distiguishable from its propreitor and therefore income of such business is nothing but income of the owner individual. Threfore PAN of individual is relevant.
