If so then why are univ. which are even recognised by Bar council allowing candidates to write the entrance exam to any graduates. Also in the BAR COUNCIL INDIA website in the section CHAPTER II Standards of Professional Legal Education No. 7. Minimum marks in qualifying examination for admission it uses 'may be'.Can anybody explain this.

YOU HAVE NOT MENTIONED ABOUT THE PURPOSE AND ABOUT PERSON FOR WHOM THE INFORMATION IS REQUIRED. THE SAID PERSON MAY PERSONALY APPROACH THE UNIVERSITY AND PURCHASE THE ADMISION FORM AND PROSPECTUS FOR THE COURSE .YOUR QUERRY WILL BE SOLVED.BECAUSE RULES AND PROCEDURE IS DIFFERENT IN DIFFERENT UNIVERSITIES. ONCE YOU PASS THE LL.B.EXAM YOU CAN REGISTER THE DEGREE WITH BAR COUNCIL OF YOUR STATE BY SUBMITING REGISTRATION FORM AND COMPLYING ALL REQUIREMENTS AS PER THE PROSPECTUS. THANKS.

It is the discretion of University to fix the criteria for admissions, they may set it to 33% or 45% or they may set it to 60%.
So far my knowledge is concerned, as per Bar Council of India, the minimum percentage required for admission to LLB course is 45% for general catagory and 40% for some reserved catagories. Or even if you get an admission for LLB course with less than 45% in your first graduation, then you will have to face the music of Bar Council of any state and will not be enrolled as an Advocate though you will become a law graduate.
