Recovery of lease amount

1)After the lapse of lease agreement,lessee continue the possession.
2)Lessor does not send notice untill now,but he is claiming rent for the period of enjoyment of possession
3)But,he is refusing to give the rent
4) how can I recover the money now

At first check validity of your own question. You discussed about lessor as a third person, bust asking how you (not lessor) can recover the money? So, make it clear, whether someone else is a lessor or yourself?

How much time has passed after expiry of lease deed? Whether owner received any rent after expiry of lease deed?

Send legal notice to vacate and pay lease amount as per lease term applicable in such situation if any exist in the deed.
