I have sold my bike in the year 2008 to one Mr.X for Rs.18000/- by way if cash and i have received entire cash. it was agreed between us that the transfer of papers will be made after a week. We both neglected and avoided to transfer of vehicle. now it has passed almost 3 years. Now that persons whereabout are not known (he was student he completed his studies and left) to me but i am afraid that if my bike is used for illegal purpose my name will be involved. can it be transfered only by me? what should i do to keep myself on the safer side? can i move application to RTO stating all these facts? or shall i make these facts known to police?

IF YOU GOT SALE NOTICE FROM BUYER YOU CAN SEND IT TO rto AND REPORT THE MATTER IN LOCAL POLICE STATION. APART FROM YOU CAN ALSO ISSUE A PAPER PUBLICATION TO THAT EFFECT.

S/Shri Devajyoti and S. Ganesan have rightly opined and you can act on their advice. However towards more safer side, you may also try to get address of the student from the educational institution where he was admitted for study, as the institution would definitely have his original address and contact numbers even of his parents in his admission form.
