Respected sir, I am ex servicemen, sir my mother name is Nirmala Singh and by mistake it is on my discharge book Nirmala Devi. Surname is wrong. I asked for to correct the sir name but by record office is telling now it can't be changed. Sir I am applying for another service on group d post by filling mother name as it is on my discharge book. Is there will be any problem during police verification....

It is better to apply for update of Aadhaar Card of your mother for correction of the name as Nirmala Singh alias Nirmala Devi. Your mother and father shall individually give affidavit regarding your mother name and get them attested by Notary.

Apply/ issue legal notice to Chief Record Officer for correction of name in your long roll maintained in your Record Office.
If the CRO do not correct or find any difficulty/ problem, file a suit for declaration in civil court through a local prudent lawyer.
