The powers-of-attorney act, 1882

(Querist) 06 April 2015 This query is : Resolved
Ca I use this central "The Powers-of-attorney act, 1882" to book online railway tickets on client's behalf becoming their attorney though without being a railway agent?
Devajyoti Barman (Expert) 06 April 2015
First infor whether you are running business of ticket booking or not.
For buying tickets for friend/relative no such POA is required.
Mohd Salman (Querist) 06 April 2015
I'm planning to do so, just confirming the details before starting so that I may not get into legal issues.
As I asked, can I use POA to book tickets on clients behalf. I never mentioned friends and family.
Devajyoti Barman (Expert) 06 April 2015
Without procuring necessary license from Railways/IRCTC , you cannot do such business.
Mohd Salman (Querist) 06 April 2015
The why is this Power of Attorney Act made, when I cant use it in this situation?

I observe that you are more inclined towards Railway Act, while you are neglecting the "The powers-of-attorney act, 1882".

Power of Attorney law clear states that I can do any task on clients behalf for some fee charged to them.

So this would come out to be a service and not a business, isn't it?

you cannot do so . you had raised this query earlier too
Rajendra K Goyal (Expert) 07 April 2015
The advise in this section is as per law, You can be attorney to book ticket for particular person, Railway Act prohibit to obtain profit through POA.
Mohd Salman (Querist) 08 April 2015
Your answer"The advise in this section is as per law, You can be attorney to book ticket for particular person, Railway Act prohibit to obtain profit through POA. ",

can you quote any act in railway where it states that I cant make profit using POA.

Also, If I run this service of being POA and booking tickets, can Indian "The powers-of-attorney act, 1882" save me from the custody?
Dr J C Vashista (Expert) 08 April 2015
Read the provisions of Railway Act and then apply the POA Act.
Consult a local lawyer to start an agency for booking of rail passengers and then proceed.
T. Kalaiselvan, Advocate (Expert) 10 April 2015
Your this repeated question was very well addressed earlier by more experts, better understand the provisions of the laws you refer here and then ask question. Little knowledge is always dangerous.
