WHAT IS THE TIME LIMIT BEFORE WHICH THE CIVIL DEFAMATION HAS TO BE FILED ?

Acquittal in a criminal case is not the ground for a defamation proceedings. So also, was the acquittal on merits?

acquitted beyond all doubts and absolutely no evidence against the accused in the case.
