Unregistered Rent Agreement ??

Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 26 February 2011 This query is : Resolved
I am giving my flat on rent @6000/- p.m. in Delhi for 11 months.

The property dealer says unregistered agreement on Rs. 50/- stamp paper is quite Ok.

Is he right or should I get it registered?

Which agreement, regd or unregd., would be better for me ,if some dispute arises between me and the tenant?
Advocate. Arunagiri (Expert) 26 February 2011
For 11 months agreement no need for a stamp paper at all. No need for registration.

Simple possession along with a rental agreement is enough for you.

Yes no need for registration.

There is no requirement for getting the same registered.

There should be a deterent negative covenent in the Agreement to take care of tenant's defaulting to vacate / pay timely etc.
