Can a person file a petition again?

if a petition filed by a person is dismissed in supreme court on the grounds of his/her "in absentia", can he file a petition again?

Depends .. on what were the grounds of his /her being absent from the court on the day of that petition getting dismissed.

yes it can be filed but it's admission would depend upon the gravity of the reasons/explanations cited for being absent before the court ...

 In every court, a restoration petition can be filed, with adequate reasons for default that caused dismissal of the original petition stated in detail in the affidavit. Since it is a supreme court matter, extra care should be taken to prepare such a petition, with good legal advice.

It seems that this query is raised at other places too. And the person has disclosed that the SLP was dimissed one year back.
