Can some one advise me on raising the rents by landlord

Hi,

I have been living in this rental property for 2 years from now. 1st Year the rent was 12700/- (including maintenance) then the second year the rent was 13800/- now as we are entering into third year the landlord is asking for 17000/- as rent. Can I have any legal support for not to increasing the rent so much?

I have the rent agreement for the first year only not for the second year. It is with the landlord.

Also the rent is paid in Cash. I do not have any Rent Receipts from the landloard. Will this weaken my case?

Can you help or suggest me in this context ?

Thanks.

It will depend on your state rent act and its provisions.

It will depend on provisions of rent control act.

I do not have the Rent Receipts. I paid rent by Cash Only. Also I do not have the Rent Agreement Copy with me. But I have the last year Rent Agreement Copy.

Does this makes my case weak?
