Dear Kapil,
It has been often addressed whether WhatsApp communications have any evidentiary value by various courts, emphasising and ruling that WhatsApp talks cannot be used as evidence without a certificate under Section 65B of the Evidence Act.
Section 65(B)- the standards listed are met, any information contained in an electronic record that has been stored, recorded, or copied as a computer output is likewise deemed to be a "document" and is admissible as evidence without further proof or production of the originals.
Therefore if the certificate is acquired by someone under this section then WhatsApp messages can be admissible as evidence in the court as well.
Regards,
Aryan Raj
