Charitable trust auditing

What are the financial documents that a charitable trust must have in order to prove that they are abiding by the law and using funds appropriately? Audit memo, balance sheet, I/E account, etc.

If I have a doubt that a particular charitable trust is not using funds appropriately, what documents must I ask for and inspect?
