Civil case vakalathnama - nri

I'm an NRI, currently residing in USA.

Due to court hearing for a property litigation in Tamil Nadu, my lawyer sent me vakalathnama form to be signed.

Can I sign, get notary and attestation from Indian Consulate? or does it require an attorney to sign the section stating

"Signed before me this day of....

                                      Advocate "

in the form along with Consulate attestation? Please share your inputs.

If you are executing the vakalatnama from a foreign country, it is advisable that you get your signature attested either by a Notary public of your country or by an official of the Indian consulate.

I agree with the above expert opinion. Indian Notaril act is recognized and reciprocated in the U.S.A. and similarly the Notarial acts of the U.S.A. have been accepted and recognized in India in diverse matters and documenta, especially when many industrial, commercial and business transactions are entered today between India and the U.S.A. This is under International Law on the reciprocal recognition of the acts done by foreign Notaries.
