Who will be held acountable for the lost that was recovered?

In army convoy one of the jawan lost his gun when he went off to sleep, but after two day  this was recovered by one good samaratian a truck driver who found the gun on the side of the road and hand over to Border Security Forces and the Border Security Forces hand over to the Army. The Jawan was punished by the Army  authority though the gun was recovered, but can they punished the commanding Officer of the said Army Convoy also?

i think NO. its his responsibity. for every lost of gun commonding officer cannot be held responsible. Once the gun was handed over to a particular person, its his duty to keep it with due diligence. The commonding officer cannot be directly responsible for the act or negligence of jawan.

Yes.  You said that gun was recovered after two days wehn sepoy lost it. I hope no strologer could have told the CO that fund will be recovered after two days. It appears from your blog that the Commanding Officer failed to arrest the sepoy forthwith on report of loss.

How was the management of troops was going on that the gund holding soldier could go on sleep.  He was probably overloaded. Commanding Officer failed to maintain proper management.

An officer does not become Commanding Officer overnight. He earns experience before that. He shows good quality and quantity of output to ge tthis opportuinity and this experience of being succesful Commanding Officer is factor for his further promotion prior to his senior if senior had not be a Commanding Officer.

The recovery of gun is not so relevant. It was a firearm which was lost.  It had gone out of the custody even temporarily. Even other wise in Govt functioning loss /shortage of property (even if just cash) is not condoned by subseuent recovery.  Many Govt officials are punished even after they restored embezzled lost amount.

You have not cleard as to how the sepoy was punished. hand it been a policeman he would have certainly gone to Jail.
