instead there should be punishment amounting to Jail term for misusing the law. 1k to 15 k ?  that will not deter the 498a misusers.

The law should be revised......... if any women is found misusing 498a then she will get no maintenance / alimony from the husband (this will exclude the kids maintenance, if applicable). Then look at the results............yeh sab paise ka khel hai. Pls arrest the root cause of the problem.

slowly that will also be happen , this is just begining if law is amended direclty to that extent than you better what will happen in parliament and bill will not get passed and remeber a needle point hole is enough to sink the ship. so though this is needle point hole but surly one day soon it will sing the ship of false 498A law and all biased laws.

Don't be happy so soon. Even if this law is passed, IMHO, most of cases are dismissed because of lack of evidence. While it is very difficult to prove a case, it is equally difficult to prove that the case was filed with mal-intent.

At Least something good has come out against such mal-intentions.

The government can/ should adopt strict laws to STOP Giving and Taking Dowry. The culprits need to be punished at SOURCE

One biggest hurdle i understand in taking stringent steps is that in the indian society there is lavish spendings /gifts that are exchanged during marriages, if this practice OF EXCHANGING OR SPENDING is stopped there will be a yearly loss of 55000 Cr market which comprises of Consumer durables cos/Lightening/ catering / garments /tours and travels / hotel industry etc etc
