How to know lawyers credentials

Access the court's cause list, even available online.

Type his name under the section provided ' search by advocate name '.

All matters attended to, by him would be listed, if he is genuinely an advocate.

Whether he is experienced or not, that can be seen only if you 

a) sit in court during his matters and see how he argues

b) see the cause-list and speak to his opponent advocate and speak as a general enquiry and seek

his opinion about your advocate.

c) see the past cases and see how many he has won. Speak to his former clients and seek their opinion about his skills of advocacy.

d) speak to the bench clerk at the court halls and open up a casual conversation and seek their opinion about your 

advocate and his skills. Take details of his past - cases handled by him - to see how many he has won - how many adjournments he has sought.

More the adjournments, less effective he is as an advocate.

Another method is to buy the advocate's directory from the advocates' association.

say, for reference and buy that directory.

It should have his name listed.

From that you get his office address and residential address.

Search for advocates in the same area and speak to them casually and find out

what their opinion is, about your advocate. But do not do it in a manner that would lead the advocate to 

suspect you.

Another method is to go to the bar council of the state and request them to tell you if 

that advocate is listed in the list or if suspended ( if suspended, for how long ).
