A private university called Lovely Professional University in Phagwara is demanding an affidavit from the landlord of the student, who is living outside the university hostel, and has warned the students to block their attendence and penalise them financially, if they dont submit this affidavit. The landlords are owners of private buildings, and have nothing to do with the LPU. But, LPU is demanding affidavits stating that LPU officials wilhave 24*7 access to their buildings to inspect the rooms of the students. If they find something objectionable like cigarretes, alcohol, or any other objectionable material, they will take action.
My question to the learned members is that is there a legal standing of this document, and how come LPU can ask for 24*7 access to some provately owned premises?
