Uniform Civil Code

Why do the non-Hindus specially muslims oppose the Uniform civil code as it was suggested today by Allahabad Highcourt to implement the uniform civil code and ask the centre to pass the law regarding that in parliament?
How will it affect the muslims adversely?

By incorporating the Uniform Civil Code, all personal religious laws will be almost abolished, and an unified personal law regulating aspects such as marriage, divorce, and succession would be established. This law shall not include any personal law pertaining to any culture or religion, and it shall apply equally to all people regardless of caste, religion, or colour.

There are many objections and perspectives in opposition to the adoption of a Uniform Civil Code. Some of them are :

1. People argue that it is against secularism.

2. They beleive it is a violation of personal religious laws.

Even though years have passed since it was first suggested, the application of UCC would try and bring forth a long-overdue transition and put a stop to a great deal of ambiguity. However, due to some of the drawbacks it presents, it has proven hard to enforce.
