degeneration of court decorum

KURNOOL: In a shocking incident, a court clerk flung a slipper at the Fourth Additional District Judge Shanmugham in the court here on Thursday. Soon after the incident, the judge, who is in-charge of the family court, adjourned the proceedings and retired to report the matter to District Judge Ashok Kumar.

Radha Rani, who was accused of insulting the chair, alleged that the judicial officer had provoked her with his remarks. The judge reportedly took exception and admonished the clerk (typist) for leaving the footwear close to the chair. Hurt by the remarks, she took a slipper and flung it at him.

After reviewing the matter, the judiciary lodged a complaint with the Two Town police .

Radha Rani alleged that the judge had been harassing all four women employees attached to the family court. Thursday’s incident was the last straw. She said she had written to the High Court a few months ago asking for a transfer.

Is maintaining the decorum of Court important than one's dignity? I suppose after lots of thinking only, the woman might have reacted that way. It is important to have harassment free workplace too. Let us see the reports of enquiry.

If anyone is offended by ones' superiors there are ways... these court clerical cadre have their own union.. and they have their way to bend the mighty with their collective power.  BUT certainly not by throwing a chappal in a public court.  No dignified being resent like that... it only shows the low self esteem of that individual who threw the chappal.  Just think of damage done to a esteemed public institution and its repurcussions in the society, especially our illiterate and semiliterate society.

Hi All,

Two wrongs cannot make a thing right hence at the first instance itself the things should have got resolved otherwise everything shall be doomed including most of all the name of the profession.

Best Regards

This incident seems to have some backdrop. However, it is a very unfortunate incident and the court clerk's action is highly condemnable.
