Divorce by mutual consent

Hi,

2 yrs of marriage, with lot of threats , allegations and desertions, now my wife and her family are willing for divorce by mutual consent.

But they want an out of court settlement, which worries me!!

i got this message when I was ready to file for divorce

Is out of court settlement valid in Law?

What legal documents are needed?

Thing to note to aviod future problems from her or her family?

shall I take a lawyer with me during such a meeting?

are any guidelines regarding financial transactions/maintainence during such time.

Please let me know what everything that  needs to be done , as this my second major decision of my life after marriage.

vimal...

Yes if the alimony and other details are settled outside court then you can document the same and apply a Mutual consent divorce petition that is simpler and faster as otherwise its a long drawn process of contested divorce.

Its better to document the points that are agreed and pay the final amount at the time of second motion and not full payment initially.
