Greetings,

It is to be noted that e-commerce, just like other services and commodities available in the market place come under the ambit of Consumer Protection Act. The relation between consumer and provider of service or product comes under the provisions given under the Consumer Protection Act. Though it is to be noted that E-commerce sites enable third party individuals to get involved in the transactions and providing the commodity, acting as the common platform for service seeker and provider interface. Nonetheless, it is highly recommended that you initially go through the guidelines provided on the website, if any. Apart from that, contact the customer care via mail or voice call in order to sort out your query. A legal action in this scenario seems a bit far-fetched, in realistic terms. Moreover, the liability to prove that the product box was empty shouldn’t lie on you.

Hope this helps you.

Regards
