Father kills daughter, honour killing suspected

Hyderabad: A 26-year-old woman was allegedly killed by her father and two brothers in Hyderabad on Monday afternoon. They have reportedly slit her throat with a knife.

The woman was allegedly married but was also having an "extra-marital affair". The victim was married for the last ten years but she and her husband were living separately. Moreover, she had two children with whom she was staying.

She reportedly got closer to another man and her family objected to the matter.

Meanwhile, the woman's father and two brothers have now been charged with murder and are now in police custody.

Unless women make themselves financially independant, they will remain in jeopardy. They must learn to safeguard/protect themselves and their right and interest.

I don't agree that financial independence is the way to curb honour killings.

We indians are living with this myth that when a woman starts working, she wont be suppressed or harassed.

if someone does not approve of sum1's behavior and wants to finish him off,he'll do so in any case.a financially independent woman will not get any weapons for free from her workplace which she can use for defence.when she is about to be killed she will be a victim just like any other victim.

if a working woman was so safe,we wud be hearing of reduction in crimes against WORKING WOMEN.

is that happening?
