I requiresome guidance/advice on behalf of my aunt.
My aunt is a widow and have no children. She lives alone in a good locality in Kolkata from last 35 years. The scenario is in the very beginning the house was rented on the name of her father-in-law and he had two son. After father-in-law's demise the younger son took control of the housing rent and the receipts were issued on his name. This was not disputed since the two brothers had a cordial relationship and the house rent was paid in mutual understanding. This continued till 2006 but in that year my aunt husband died of natural ailment and from that year on wards she has been harassed by the brother-in-law who wants her to vacate the house.
She has no other place to go and the harassment has made her life miserable. So can you please suggest what is the legal procedure she can adopt to end this agony.
Few important points:
1) She has voter card issued on that address.
2) She has electric meter issued under the name of her late husband.
3) The house is a duplex where she lives in the 1st floor and her brother-in-law lives in the ground floor, both have separate entrance.
