How can I get lost original property documents

I have lost my property's original documents( patta, power of attorney, sale deed ) , what is the legal procedure to get these documents again and from where & which department ?

Publish in paper and apply for certified copies in concerned department

1.  Engage a Property Lawyer or a "search agent" (searcher can be located outside the offices of the local registrar of sub-assurances) and give me maximum details (approximate date, parties names, property details etc.... ) and when found, apply for "certified copies" of the same.

2.  The above takes time, but can be done.
