How to cancelling power of attorney

Hello All,

Can you please advise on how to cancel a power of attorney which is registered in registrar office?

1. Also, cancelling of Power of Attorney should be done through registration in registrar office?

2. A single notice to the other party is enough to cancel the POA?

Kindly clarify.

You need to execute deed of cancellation and register the same. since, the POA is registere therefore, Deed of Cancellation needs to be compulsorily  registered.

Deed of Cancellation of a Registered POA is not required to be registered for the simple reason that only such documents are required to be compulsorily registered which affect a change in the property. Which create/destroy rigths in immoveable property.

In case the power of attorney is registered deed then you have to cancel it through a deed of cancellation/revocation & that too has to be registered. In case the power of attorney is not registered then it can be cancelled by a registered letter written on plain paper & sent to to the person/authority for whom this POA deed was made along with a copy to the person in whose favor this was given. A newspaper publications is required only if this POA was given for general purpose & to deal with various people or authorities on your behalf
