How to get a copy of sale deed

Hi expert lawyers,

I have sold a property about 6 months back in Kolkata and I was assured by the buyer that he would get two copies of the title deed of sale and send me one.

Now he is saying he will not give me any copy as we won't need it. I have 3 questions

1) Do we need a copy?

2)What is the the best way of getting one for our selves?

3) do we need to employ lawyers to request one?

Thanks a lot

Sonia

If you want a copy, you can obtain a certified copy of it from the office of the sub-registrar where the original was registered.

Further to add in what my colleague has said ..... By availing the sevices of a local advocate, you will find yr self free from so many hassles .....

Thank you for your reply. Do I need to take anything to prove that I was the seller?

How long does it take to get one?

many thanks

Sonia
